This should not be done in a literal and boring form, but instead in a creative fashion, so that the audience is set up to hear what the student wants to say. It is important to be especially careful with this part of the speech, as everything you say from this point forth will be cast in the light of this initial set-up.

The rest of any given speech will differ a bit based upon its purpose, but there do exist some set guidelines and forms which can help students determine the best way to write the particular speech as well as the proper number of words to write in order to achieve the predetermined length.
