Many people advertise them but is there any such thing as a free essay? Yeah Right! Yet is amazing how many people are coaxed into believing they will receive original, free essays. The number of sites listing this ‘too good to be true’ service are plentiful and they’ll keep you believing you’ve got a free essay coming - right up until the point where they take your personal and worse still, credit card details. Be warned, these people are not going to give you free essays. There are no free lunches.

On the other hand, there are reputable companies, like PowerPapers.com, that will let you know what you are really getting right up front. They offer templates, samples and editing of an excellent standard but even they, do not offer free essays. That isn’t to say there aren’t any free essays available online. It is possible to find these; I should clarify this point. It is just that they will not be original or tailor written and often they will not be of very good quality. These are all usual requirements of teachers and professors at all levels of education so these ‘free essays’ won’t do you much good.

So what can you get online if you are stuck and needing an essay? It is possible to have essays written according to course specification. It is also possible to have sample essays written so that you have a foundation from which to begin. Finally, it is possible to find excellent editing to help make what you have written correct in spelling, grammar, syntax and even to have tips on how to improve the actual content. How much or how little help editing you receive is entirely up to you and what you feel you need. But, just as there are no free essays, there are also no free editing services and you will have to pay for the privilege.

Most sites that advertise free essays are a fraud. Online message boards are full of complaints and advice for those seeking free essays and the majority agrees that there are a lot of scams. There are no free essays, but there are some great sites with professional writers who can help. This is what some online bloggers had to say about sites advertising free essays:

“I will say this I don't think there's a way to avoid paper scams online when trying to order a custom paper… At any rate,… I personally have ordered for almost any site you can think up and have been scammed on them all. In fact all these sits claim they are legit with non-plagiarized papers and a good majority of ones I've ordered have been either word for word copy and paste jobs from Wikipedia or damn near close to 100% copied.”

Unfortunately, that is the experience of too many people caught up in sites advertising free essays. The reality is that good academic writing sites are very hard to find and when you do find one, it’s a good idea to stick with it. This is what another blogger had to say,

“If you're going to be ordering essays, the smartest thing to do is order a few small papers as far in advance of your deadline as possible. Don't wait until you have a major project to start experimenting and keep your costs down while trying out companies by ordering as early as possible. 

Once you find a writer you like, stick with that company and always request that writer. If a company treats you unfairly, don't use them again and let everyone know to avoid them; if you're just not thrilled with the writer's work don't blame the company unless it's so bad that there's no excuse for their using that writer at all. It's not much different from finding a good car mechanic: you either go by word-of-mouth referral from satisfied customers or you take your car in for minor stuff and gradually build trust…”
